FOR HANDYMEN
From Small Repairs to Bigger Water Jobs
You already patch the drywall after a leak. Learn how to handle the water damage job that comes before it.
Why it fits handymen
- You already have the tools and skills for demo and small repairs.
- Your customers trust you and call you when something goes wrong.
- Drying is bigger work than most handyman calls, and it often leads to the repair job too.
Know the licensing line
Many states limit how big a job you can take without a contractor license. California, for example, caps unlicensed minor work at $1,000. Water mitigation jobs often go over those limits, so check your state, and plan to get licensed or partner with a licensed contractor. Mold work has its own rules in some states; see mold licensing by state.
